Tory cuts to schools, skills and children’s services are hitting most disadvantaged the hardest .

Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on a new report by the Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) which argues that there is still a significant North-South divide in education, said:

“This report is the latest sign that the Tories’ cuts to schools, skills and children’s services are not only damaging the education system but also hit the most disadvantaged the hardest.

“The report rightly calls for more investment in the early years, protection for the most disadvantaged pupils, and an emphasis on better skills. Instead, the Government has lost a third of Sure Start centres, cut the adult skills budget and taken billions away from schools and services for those most in need.

“The next Labour government will invest £500m to reverse the Government’s Sure Start cuts, implement a genuinely fairer funding formula for schools and fund further education to provide free lifelong learning for all.”

ÂŁ500m peanuts in terms of the overall budget, the original cuts were Tory ideology rather than real savings, save that money with ease by cutting the gross sums shelled out to failing private companies leeching on public sector. How much will Carrillion cost the taxpayer, but that's OK, the fat cats have taken their cut the taxpayer can pick up the bill, any talk of help which could go to those of lower income is immediately labelled wasted cash by Tories.

We now have to borrow to balance the budget as it is. So instead of propaganda just explain where you will get the funding from! More borrowing! Higher tax! What?

Schools are experiencing greater pressures in areas where the majority of immigrants have been placed. The areas where the majority of immigrants have been placed happens to be in the UK's more deprived areas - hence there is less educational progress in those areas! Nothing to do with cuts!

A poll recently conducted came back showing that 73% of those polled would accept a 1% rise in income tax, provided that it was ring fenced solely as an increase for the NHS, even when targeted at just purely Tory voters the figures still came back at 57% in favour, surprising though it may sound all those polled would not as readily accept an income tax increase, if that increase went into the general taxation pot.

The Tories have been high on their austerity programme which far from producing savings has in too many cases cost even more, this obsession with handing public sector work to private contractors has saved nothing, in fact again far too many instances where costs have risen, money wasted or transferred to private pockets.

Stop this ideology, keep funding in the country save ÂŁbillions, without raising taxes or cutting services, we are constantly being told how wealthy this country is, if that is the case we already have the necessary funds, it just need redistributing.

Hardly accurate at all, schools all over the UK are suffering budget shortfalls, cutting courses and teachers, certainly not linked to immigrants, you do you have one nugget of truth in that this government has deliberately placed immigrants in poorer or lower cost areas, with no thought to the consequences, but the main cause for concern everywhere are cuts and this new funding formula which most have predicted will cut funding for 98% of schools, hardly limited to a few areas.

When even The Institute for Fiscal Studies can only see cuts in funding across the board, I would say budget cuts are the main and real problem.
