Japanese Soko china lithophane tea set
Hi,
I work for a local charity and we have had a tea and coffee set donated. There are 39 pieces altogether. I would obviously like to make as much money as possible for the charity and have had a disappointing offer of £15 for the lot. Surely it must be worth more than that. It has been lovingly looked after. Any ideas most welcome. Thankyou

I am sorry to say £15 is probable a good offer.
But as you are a charity I am sure you could get the potential purchaser to up it to £20 offer.
Normally the rim on the tea cups is very rough like it has not been fired.
made between 1930 and 1950. I have seen some as late as 1970.
Made for the tourist and the European market.
after the war 1945/47 you will find made "occupied Japan" if this is on the back stamp (on the base of the teapot, etc.) the items are worth double.
back stamps pre war "Nippon"
back stamps 1950's "Japan"

Thankyou for the information. I will try to push the price up to £20 as it is for charity.
