Don’t forget from Thursday 1 March retailers are unable to take the old £10 notes. If you still have any, head to your bank and they will change them for you. But they are no longer legal tender!

The new £10 note, launched in September last year, is the first Bank of England note with a tactile feature to help blind and partially-sighted users.

Individuals will need to be customers at a given bank in order for them to make the switch. They may also be required to present ID, such as a driving license or a passport.

The Bank plans to release a new £20 note by 2021, featuring British painter JMW Turner.
