Can you help officers trace a man sought in connection with an assault on a member of staff at Liverpool South Parkway station on Sunday 12 February?

The incident happened at approximately 5.45pm on board a London Midland service heading towards Crewe. A man, who was believed to be intoxicated, became hostile towards a member of staff who requested they leave the train at Liverpool South Parkway. The conductor was then assaulted.

As the man was leaving the train, along with a group of friends, he then threw a glass bottle at a wall. The bottle narrowly missed a woman and her three children, smashing on a nearby wall. Fragments of glass and alcohol then fell onto the family.

Officers are today releasing CCTV of a man they would like to speak with in connection – do you recognise him?

Investigating officer PC Muhammed Patel, said: “This man’s behaviour was shocking, not only had he assaulted a member of rail staff for no reason, he then violently lashed out by throwing this glass bottle.

“The family had a lucky escape as the bottle did not strike them, but things could have been far more serious.

“No one should be assaulted for simply doing their job. We will not tolerate staff assaults and violent behaviour such as this, we are working hard to identify the man responsible and bring him before the courts.

“If you know the man in the CCTV image, please get in touch as your information could vitally assist our enquiries.”
