Merseyside Police are pleased to announce that our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) Network have been awarded the Stonewall âNorth West Network Group of the yearâ.
This is a celebration of schemes, projects and successes that various organisations across the region have implemented to achieve equality in the workplace.
The prestigious award was presented to the team at Stonewallâs 2018 North West Workplace Equality Awards, hosted by KPMG and held in Manchester on Wednesday, 30th May.
Detective Constable Tracy O'Hara, Chair of the LGBT+ Network said: "This is a proud moment for everybody involved in our network. Weâre a diverse, eclectic group of people with a passion for valuing difference and ensuring everyone feels able to engage in dialogue around LGBT+ matters.â
Assistant Chief Constable Julie Cooke further commented: âThis really is a testament to the hard work Merseyside Police continually put into our LGBT+ network to enable them to support colleagues, staff and raise awareness of matters around sexual orientation or gender identity.
âThe network have gone above and beyond to ensure all Police Officers, staff, cadets and volunteers feel included and supported to work free from discrimination.
âWeâre proud to be a member of Stonewall and continue to promote their ethos of acceptance and inclusivity without exception.
âItâs important that we reflect the community that we proudly serve and celebrate our differences. Iâm proud to be our networks Champion and am pleased that the achievements of the network have been recognised.â
Emma Jennings from the charity Stonewall finally stated: âIt was a pleasure to host the North West Regional Awards 2018 yesterday and to recognise the achievements of those organisations and individuals who are going above and beyond to promote LGBT equality in their workplaces.
âStonewall are happy to be working with a number of organisations in the North West who are committed to empowering individuals and changing hearts and minds; itâs important we recognise the regional efforts of those organisations actively creating positive change, both internally and in the surrounding communities.
âWeâre very pleased to award Merseyside Police âNetwork Group of the Year 2018â for their hard work and dedication to the LGBT agenda and Stonewall would like to thank Merseyside Police for their continued commitment to encouraging diversity and promoting LGBT equality.â

I'd be more impressed if they'd won an award for crime clear-up rates. Not much chance of that happening while they're all out at the Pride parade, painting rainbows on squad cars and raising the LGBT+ flag.
Stonewall is a big money-making racket. They charge public and private sector organisations handsomely for training and workshops to promote their narrow viewpoint. Certainly diversity of view is not encouraged. Fits right in with PC PC.
