Beverley Robinson, Principal of Blackpool and the Fylde College is awarded the OBE for services to Further Education.

She said: ''This honour is in recognition of the work of everyone at Blackpool and The Fylde College. The organisation is continuously recognised among the top performing institutions for student success, both for further and higher education. The College works in partnership with industry to develop the skilled workforce needed to drive the UK economy, whilst enabling our students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to secure lifelong, enriching careers. I am delighted that this work has been recognised in this way.

''I have been fortunate to work with truly fabulous staff teams, both past and present and I whole-heartedly thank them. Similarly we have fantastic employer partners who are both generous of their time and highly-engaged with training and education.

''I firmly believe that the development of technical and professional education and training is vital for the success of the UK economy. This award recognises the important work done by the FE sector which enables people of all ages, from all backgrounds, the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

''I feel extremely humbled to be awarded this honour.''
