AFC Fylde captain Josh Langley has revealed that advice from a Manchester City superstar has helped him through his potentially season-ending injury.

The Coasters defender tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament back in August against Maidenhead United and underwent surgery on his knee to fix the problem.

Langley is now well on the road to recovery after resuming full training with Dave Challinor’s promotion-hopefuls and has even received some words of wisdom from City midfielder and Germany international İlkay Gündoğan during his rehabilitation.

Langley said: “I started training at the beginning of last week so I’ve done two weeks of full training now. Touchwood, everything has gone to plan so far.

“We had an 11v11 in training this week and that was fantastic to take part in. That was effectively my first game of football since my injury. I still don’t feel 100% yet, I’m still a bit stiff and sluggish but I’m getting better every day.

“I’ve had the best help possible so far. I had a really good surgeon and great treatment from the team here. Most importantly I have worked really hard so I’ve given myself the best possible chance. Hopefully I can start to reap the rewards.

“I have spoken to a few people who have had a similar injuries over the last few months. I spoke to Gündoğan at Man City and had a chat about what he did to get back to fitness. One of my friends works at City so they put us in touch and he gave me some really good advice.”
