Tickets are still available until Friday for the Dancing with Dementia event which is returning next week on Wednesday 14 June.

People with dementia and their carers are invited to come along to the annual event to enjoy an afternoon of ballroom dancing at the prestigious Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens.

Held between 11am and 4pm, the day will include latin and ballroom professional displays, a choir, dancing, Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, a free raffle, information on dementia services plus much more. For just £10 per person, guests will also enjoy refreshments including a delicious afternoon tea.

Around 525 tickets have been sold so far but there are a handful available until Friday.

Dr Arif Rajpura, Blackpool Council’s Director of Public Health said: “Dancing with Dementia will be returning for the fourth year running and we hope that people will enjoy it more than ever. We are delighted with how popular it continues to be.

“These types of events are a fantastic way for us to reach out to people in the community and show that support is available for everyone involved with dementia.

“Dementia affects so many people and we hope that this event will help give them a better understanding of the support available to them.

“The event is open to all members of the public as we want to engage the wider community in developing a greater understanding about dementia.

“We are hoping for a record turnout at this year’s event.”
