BLACKPOOL’s famous Nolan sister, Linda, has been ‘singing’ the praises of Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

In an interview to wish the NHS a happy 70th birthday, Linda, 59, described how the care she has received during her cancer journey has been faultless.

The singer was part of The Nolans, an internationally famous singing group made up of sisters Linda, Bernie, Denise, Anne, Maureen and later, Colleen.

She said: “I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and was treated at Blackpool Victoria, then went into remission. The care I received than was amazing.

“Last year, while in hospital for a hip scan, doctors found a secondary cancer which is treatable but not cureable.”

Linda has made firm friends with the team in hospital that are involved with her treatment journey.

She said: “I call my cancer nurse, Sarah Middleton, the seventh Nolan sister.

“We’ve got to know each other really well and she has been wonderful. My Consultant Oncologist, Dr Falalu Danwata, has been amazing. The care has been faultless and I have great confidence in them.”

Linda has been so impressed with the service she has received that she has even written a dedication to nurse Sarah Middleton and Consultant clinical physiologist Dr Jean Brigg in her new autobiography, From My Heart.

She said: “This is my first biography and at times it has been difficult looking back, but because of my diagnosis, I felt it was the right time and I have been open and honest.”

Linda is currently enjoying being with her family in Blackpool and re-evaluating her life.

She added: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the NHS. I owe them my life. Long may it reign.”

And Linda feels so strongly about the vital service of the NHS, she said: “I will march in the streets for it.”

Linda’s autobiography was out on March 8, 2018.
