Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted during a violent robbery by a group of men in Blackpool.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon (March 11th) sometime between 4:30pm to 4:40pm in the area of Holmfield Road, Wilshaw Road and Warbreck Hill Road when the victim, 28, was approached from behind by a group of up to six men.

He was punched to the head and fell to the ground. Another man then put the man in a head lock and pushed him to the floor whilst he was punched to the face several times.

Whilst pinned to the floor, the offenders have then removed his watch from his wrist and stole his white iPhone 6 from his pocket.

PC Joe Isaacs from Blackpool Police said: “The level of violence used against the victim is truly shocking, all for the sake of a mobile phone and a watch.
“This happened in broad daylight and so we are hoping that someone, maybe a dog walker or passing driver or pedestrian, will have seen something.

“If you think you have any information that could help us with our investigation, please call 01253 607049 or if you fail to get an answer, 101, quoting incident reference 1041 of March 11th.”
