In 2015, Blackpool Transport Services embarked on one of the most ambitious journeys in their history. The ambition was to introduce a bus service that was revolutionary and offered you, our customers, the ultimate in bus travel.

Introducing one of the most luxurious bus experiences in the industry – Palladium.

So why the name?
We wanted a premium look and feel for this brand to show how we’re developing Blackpool Transport buses. The name Palladium comes from the precious metal and is chrome/silver in colour. It's also used in catalytic converters.

Luxurious buses
The Palladium brand not only features a sleek exterior, it hosts a variety of added benefits including seats that are trimmed with E-leather and a wood effect flooring. Free WiFi and mobile charging points for customers are also included along with next stop announcements.

Chauffeur driven Mercedes Benz
In 2015 Blackpool Transport launched 10 Mercedes Citaro buses in the Palladium branding. These represented an investment of £1.7m and are now on Service 5 in Blackpool that runs from Victoria Hospital via the town centre to Halfway House, every 12 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime.

The ADL Enviro 400
July 2016 saw a further investment of £2.2m as Blackpool Transport introduced 10 Enviro 400 double deck buses. They carry the sleek Palladium branding along with all the additional benefits of this branded service.

The buses operate mainly on Service 9, which runs from Cleveleys bus station via Layton & Bispham to the town centre.

2017
A further 25 ADL Enviro 400 City buses have been added to the fleet in April 2017. This delivery also saw the introduction of social seating, with 3 clusters of tables grouped on the upper deck of the vehicle. This is to allow customers to make better use of their travel time, and not least making it easier to catch up with friends and family.

Service 11 & 14 are benefitting from these buses, with service 11 operating form Lytham to Blackpool Town Centre, and service 14 from Blackpool Town Centre to Fleetwood.

And there’s more
As well as new buses in 2016 we have also refurbished a number of slightly older buses into the Palladium brand. These buses have been refurbished to the same high level specification, meaning that 54 of the buses in our fleet our now Palladium branded.

The journey is only beginning
For Blackpool Transport and our customers, this journey isn’t over for Palladium, it’s only just beginning.

This initial investment demonstrates our commitment to growing and investing in our business. Our vision is to continue to invest in the renewal of our bus fleet in Blackpool over the next 5 years.
