Police are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old girl was injured following a hit and run in Blackpool.



Police were called around 7pm on Saturday (February 11) following reports of an incident close to Lidl supermarket in Bloomfield Road.

A 16-year-old girl was at the pedestrian crossing walking from Ansdell Road towards the Bloomfield Pub when she was hit by a dark coloured saloon car, possibly an Audi.

The vehicle made off from the scene on Bloomfield Road towards the Promenade.

The girl suffered serious bruising to her hip and leg and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for information following the collision.

Sgt Finn Quainton, of Lancashire Police, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or has seen such a vehicle in the vicinity at the time of the collision to contact us.

“Furthermore, if you have seen a vehicle of this description with front end collision damage call officers.

"I would also appeal to the driver of the offending vehicle directly and urge them to hand themselves into the police.”
