Liverpool Cathedral is honoured to be able to help the city say their farewells to Sir Ken Dodd.

Liverpool Cathedral is honoured to help the city of Liverpool say goodbye to our much-loved friend Sir Ken Dodd by hosting his funeral on March 28th at 1 pm.

The funeral is open to the public to attend but due to the sheer numbers wishing to come the Cathedral cannot fulfil any requests for reserved seating. Only those directly invited by the family and civic dignitaries will be able to have a reserved place.

The Cathedral will accommodate all other mourners inside the cathedral on a first come first served basis until it is full. We recommend arriving early. A live audio-visual feed to mourners outside the cathedral will be available courtesy of Liverpool City Council.

There will be an area reserved for disabled guests but this will be limited to about 15 people and again will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

To allow all of this to happen we will not have any parking at the cathedral on the day of the funeral. We’re sorry but we will not be able to offer disabled parking. We will make provision for disabled visitors to be dropped off by the cathedral. Our staff will be on hand to help.

Our cathedral will be open for visitors until 12 pm. After that time we will only be able to accommodate those who are staying for the funeral. The funeral will start at 1 pm and is expected to last for an hour and a quarter.

The city council will be publicising the cortege’s route to the cathedral so people can pay their respects on the way.

Following the service, the family will have a private interment. We ask everyone to respect their privacy at that time.
