The Bank Holiday weekend saw the start of two more new services at Liverpool John Lennon Airport as the Summer season continues to build and follows a busy April with passenger numbers over 7% higher than April 2016.

On Saturday, Blue Air commenced their three times weekly service to Alicante taking holidaymakers to Spain’s popular Cost Blanca and on Bank Holiday Monday passengers departed on holidays to Ibiza with Thomson and First Choice following the first weekly departure of Thomson Airways’ Summer 2017 weekly flight to Ibiza from Liverpool.

Alicante is the latest Blue Air departure to commence from Liverpool following the launch of the airline’s base here at the end of March and is now their seventh route to operate from LJLA.

The Thomson Airways’ flight complements their service from Liverpool to the neighbouring Balearic island of Majorca with twice weekly departures to Palma.

Paul Winfield, Director of Air Service Development for LJLA commented, “This weekend has seen the start of more new Summer Sun services from Liverpool as we build up to what we expect to be one of Liverpool Airport’s busiest summer seasons.

With more operators choosing to offer departures from Liverpool, the region’s holidaymakers are now able to take advantage of flights from their local airport with all the added convenience that this brings.”
