Cup fever is back in the air on Monday night (7:45pm k/o) as Fleetwood Town head to Chorley in the Emirates FA Cup First Round.

Town recorded a memorable 2-2 draw with former Premier League champions Blackburn Rovers in their last Sky Bet League One outing on Tuesday night. Aiden O’Neill and Wes Burns both scored equalisers after the hosts had taken the lead twice.

Chorley’s last match in the Vanarama National League North saw them held 1-1 at home by Tamworth. Josh O’Keefe scored a second half equaliser after Tamworth had taken the lead. They sit sixth in the league table after an impressive start to their campaign.

Uwe Rosler says…

“I’m a big fan of the FA Cup and all of my focus is on this FA Cup game.

“Chorley will definitely be up for it and the game will be decided in the head, so we need to be sure we do all the things we normally do.

“It’s up to us, we need to play to our strengths. We’ll put out the strongest team that can give us the win.”

Chorley manager Matt Jansen says…

“I can guarantee that we will more than match them for endeavor, teamwork, togetherness, effort. You name it, we will more than match them for that.

“They should have more ability than us, they are three leagues above us in League One.

“It’ll be an exciting night."

Team News

Town will be without midfielder Bobby Grant after he sustained an injury in Tuesday’s draw at Blackburn Rovers. Having been sidelined for the match at Ewood Park, Conor McAleny is still a doubt for Uwe Rosler.

Loanees Nick Haughton – Chorley’s star in this season’s FA Cup – and goalkeeper Matt Urwin will be unavailable against their parent club.

One To Watch

Striker Marcus Carver is a player with Football League pedigree, having spent five years at Accrington Stanley. In that five-year spell he also had loan spells at Halifax Town, Barrow and AFC Fylde, before joining Chorley in 2016. He has scored five times for the Magpies this term in the National League North. The Blackburn local is a key man in Chorley’s attack and could cause Town problems on Monday evening.

We’ve Met Before

Chorley and Fleetwood last met competitively way back in 2006 in the Northern Premier League Division One. It ended 1-1 at Victory Park, but Town recorded a 2-1 win at Highbury.
