Southport Flower Show are delighted to reveal the plans for Macmillan Cancer Support's show garden which will be on display at this year's show.

Building on the ‘Once Upon a Time’ show theme, the garden highlights the importance of legacy gifts to Macmillan, which receives almost a third of its funding through gifts left in wills.

The main feature of the garden is a stone structure, which represents an open book, designed to tell the story of a journey through cancer diagnosis and beyond. Each page shows the perceived insurmountable nature of future challenges and how Macmillan can help you break-through these walls.

Two ‘rhythm lines’, which represent heartbeats, run through the garden. These will be engraved with messages from previous donors and symbolise the way in which Macmillan stands by those living with cancer. The final feature is a seating area which provides space and time to reflect on a lifetime’s story.
