Uwe Rosler said he felt his side deserved more following a 1-0 defeat to league leaders Shrewsbury Town.

Aristote Nsiala’s 89th minute header secured all three points for Paul Hurst’s side, as Town failed to score for the first time in the league this season.

Despite the late goal, Rosler thought that his side should have come away with something from Montgomery Waters Stadium.

“We deserved something out of that game,” said Rosler.

“We played the league leaders who were 14 games unbeaten in the league. My players stood really firm, we limited their chances and I think the determination and organisation from my players was top draw.

“The players really dug in today and to come here and play well and we deserved more. They didn’t deserve to win, we didn’t deserve to win, and for a team like us, that was a strong performance.

“However, again it was another set piece and that is the disappointing thing.”

The German reflected on Town’s second half performance and highlighted the opportunities available to his side on the break.

“We had some great counter attacking opportunities,” added Rosler.

“I wished for more football in the second half. We created a few chances on the counter attack, but the players I brought on didn’t give us that momentum that we needed to turn our defence into attack.

“Shrewsbury is a difficult place to come and it would have been good for our spirit to take something back home.

“My players did well on Tuesday night to get a point [at S****horpe], and it would have been nice for them to get something out of this game. It just wasn’t to be.

Rosler made four chances to the starting line-up from Tuesday’s draw and praised Marcus Schwabl and Baily Cargill for their performances against the only unbeaten side in the EFL.

“Our defenders were in a battle today. Baily Cargill was in a tough test against their strikers, especially after picking up an early yellow card.

“Marcus Schwabl played well in midfield too. He is a ball winner who gives you lots of energy in the centre of the park.”
