Dame Shirley Bassey devotees are in for a treat as top tribute act Paula Randell is coming to Marine Hall in Fleetwood to perform her spectacular Thank You for the Years show on Saturday 3 June.

Joined by special guest tribute Scott Dee as Engelburt Humperdink, it’s set to be a show stopper of an evening.

International impersonator Paula Randell delivers an incredibly accurate portrayal of Dame Shirley Bassey, with her fabulous orchestra, multiple replica costume changes and nostalgic film footage, Paula will astound you with her remarkable likeness to the Dame herself. Paula has even been endorsed by many of Bassey's song writers and producers including Nikki Lamborn (Get the Party Started) and Andy Neve (Thank You for the Years).

Paula comments, “I’m really looking forward to coming to Fleetwood and performing in such a beautiful theatre. The show is part of a tour I’m undertaking to celebrate Dame Shirley Bassey’s 80th birthday. I’ve entitled the show Thank you for the Years as it tells the story of her life and is a celebration of her magnificent career. I chose this particular piece as the title song as it’s one I was lucky enough to record with Andy Neve who composed the original song for Bassey. At his request we recorded my version of the song at his studio last year and I was so proud to receive a rave review, he even said I was the only other woman who could do the song justice besides the Dame herself! What an honour. I will of course be performing the song on the night.

“I want people to know that the show is not just a tribute, it’s much more than that. It’s a fun and interactive show and just as Bassey is a fun and playful character, so am I and that really comes across on the night. What’s more, how often do you get to see a show with a 10 piece orchestra? That’s exactly what I’m bringing to Fleetwood and I’m honoured to sing alongside them, especially as some members of my orchestra have played for Dame Shirley Bassey herself.

“I’ve got a very special guest for the evening too who will most definitely appeal to the ladies! Scott Dee as Engelbert Humperdinck provides light and shade to the show and we are very much looking forward to performing a duet of When you Smile which we have recently recorded together.”

Paula emulates Bassey's unique provocative body language, vocal style and phrasing and the show celebrates Bassey’s iconic career of over 60 years. It will take the audience through many old and new favourite hits including As Long As He Needs Me, Kiss Me Honey Honey Kiss Me, Big Spender and The Lady is a Tramp, plus the unmistakeable James Bond movie themes Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker.

The night culminates with the title song of her 50th anniversary tour Thank You for the Years and the Bassey of today performing songs from her Glastonbury and BBC Electric Proms appearances.

It’s a truly spectacular concert not to be missed. Tickets are £17, to book call Marine Hall on 01253 887693 or visit www.marinehall.co.uk to book online.
