Blackpool business asks residents not to be put off by Christmas roadworks.

Owners of a Blackpool shop on Talbolt Road are asking residents to use local shops over Christmas, despite the roadworks putting many off.

Over the past few days, Big Woody's has only had a handful of customers. They think it's because people either believe they are closed or don't want to be caught in traffic.

Many residents have been complaining about the roadworks taking place across Blackpool, with some saying they wont be doing their shopping in the town centre because of it.

Owners of small businesses say they are bound to feel the strain over the festive period, but others argue that the town will reap the benefits in the future.

The work is necessary to relocate utility pipes in preparation for the extension of the tram tracks up Talbot Road from North Pier to North Station. There is also regeneration work going on around the town centre.
