St Michael's Flood Action Group will meet on 6 April to create a community resilience plan and they need you!

The next meeting of St Michael's FLAG will take place on Thursday 6 April at 7.30pm and will take the form of a workshop to concentrate on resilience planning.

To help with this Wyre has supplied Flood Risk Summary Sheets and representatives of both Wyre and the Environment Agency will be there to help develop the plans. All local residents and business owners are welcome to attend. Please support this village effort.

Please note there will be a change of venue; the group will meet at Woodlands, Blackpool Road, St Michaels (the next to last house on the left past the village hall before leaving St Michael's on the way to Blackpool).

Update from the group:

Despite the dark daysk, St Michael's FLAG has been active in pursuing flooding issues whether from rivers, drains or sewers. The Environment Agency has recently carried out work identified by the group as necessary downstream from St. Michael’s bridge. A further problem on the Brock opposite Yoad Pool (not far from the site of the December 2015 burst bank) has also been reported. After some pressure this is now on the Environment Agency's list for June/July.

Maintenance of rivers, brooks, ditches and their banks has been identified as of major importance in alleviating flooding risk. With the lighter days members have started walking banks to record blockages and machinery has been set up with the Environment Agency and other agencies to report these. In the first instance please ring Pamela Nickols on 01995 679400 and she will take things forward.
