Defender reacts after weekend draw.

Ashley Eastham says ‘morale is high’ in the Fleetwood dressing room at the moment after Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Bury.

Town recorded their sixth clean sheet in seven games and stretched their unbeaten run to three games after the point at Gigg Lane.

Eastham’s side currently sit third in Sky Bet League One, just five points off the 74 point target set by head coach Uwe Rosler.

“We’re keeping our heads down and not getting too ahead of ourselves,” said Eastham.

“There’s teams in and around us who have the budgets and should be up at the top, but we’ll just keep plugging away and try to make it a special season for the club.

Saturday’s result could prove to be a point gained against an in-form Bury side, who have been impressive under new manager Lee Clark.

“We came here knowing a point was the minimum ask, and Bury have been in good form since the new manager came in, so we knew it would be a difficult game.

“For us to get back on form is huge for us morale wise. We’re a good team, and when good teams don’t win they rarely lose either.”

Eastham has been at the heart of Town’s defensive unit, which is the second best in the league conceding just 36 goals.

“It’s another clean sheet and that has been our mainstay this season – that’s what we’re striving towards.

“We did well and we felt confident together and Bury found it really difficult against us.

“Bury have a lot of goals in their side so we have to be pleased with the clean sheet. They got behind us a lot today and caused problems so we’re happy.”

The former Rochdale defender did have a sight of goal in the first half, but his glancing header went wide from Kyle Dempsey’s corner.

“I was unmarked in the area, or it certainly felt like I was. The ball came to me but I didn’t get the direction on it that I wanted.”
