A 90 year old Fleetwood lady who has devoted 60 years of her life to the scouting movement heads up the Fylde Coast's honours list.

Muriel Freestone, affectionately known as Auntie Muriel to generations of scouts in Wyre has been made an MBE.

She continues to work for Wyre District and will be talking up her regular spot selling raffle tickets and raising money at the Live Wyre Gang Show at the Marine Hall in March.

Muriel told Radio Wave, she was thrilled to have been awarded the MBE but had found it very hard to keep the news from all her friends in scouting since she found out earlier this year.
