Head coach praises Town's quality of finishing

Uwe Rosler praised his sides ‘clinical’ nature after his side beat Northampton Town 3-0 at Highbury on Saturday.

Fleetwood rose to third in Sky Bet League One and extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches thanks to goals from Devante Cole, Bobby Grant and David Ball.

“We had some outstanding performances today, normally I don’t point out individuals because it is all about the team.

“Alex, I thought today Bobby Grant, Kyle Dempsey, David Ball, we had a very strong line throughout our team and they have been outstanding today and the rest of the players were solid.

“We were clinical today, the strikers did well and the finishing was excellent, and in the second half, we got control of the game completely.”

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Town, with the visitors creating a number of chances in the opening quarter of the match, with goalkeeper Alex Cairns keeping the scores level.

“Big complements to Justin [Edinburgh], as they played well for the first 20 minutes,” said Rosler.

“The weather played into their hands, they were with the wind and they really put pressure on us.Defensively, we weren’t at our best in those twenty minutes, we were riding our luck a little bit in that period.

“The first twenty minutes, we were lucky to get away with that without conceding a goal.

“After that, we started to do everything that we trained for, you could see that after 20 minutes.

“We got the ball wide, we got passes in out of their press and we started to control the game a bit more and in the second half, we were the worthy winners.”
