Although Wyre remains largely unaffected at the moment by the severe weather, please be prepared and take care.

Lancashire Constabulary have issued some sound advice on what to do as the country suffers from severe weather conditions.

Chief Insp Mark Baines, of Lancashire Police, comments: "Weather warnings remain in place for large parts of the county, although the west of the county, including the Fylde coast, is expected to remain largely unaffected at this time.

"Only travel if absolutely essential. If you do go out, check you are wearing the appropriate clothing, have enough fuel, plenty of food and water and a fully charged mobile phone.

"Please be prepared and take care when you're out and about, especially when driving as roads are hazardous. If you're planning on travelling by public transport, check your journey before you leave the house.

"The weather is not great and if you can work from home please do so. Remember to check on neighbours, especially if they are elderly, as well as friends and family in affected areas."
