Fleetwood Town have paid their respects to Fylde Coast footballing legend Jimmy Armfield, following his passing on Monday, aged 82.

CEO Steve Curwood, and former Blackpool favourite Stephen Crainey - who is now under 18s assistant coach at Town - laid a wreath at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road Stadium on Tuesday.

Crainey said: "It was actually quite a touching moment because of my association with Blackpool as well.

"I'm working at Fleetwood in a coaching capacity now so to represent both clubs was an honour to be honest.

"I just have a tremendous respect for Jimmy and it was good to see (the tributes) because there was Blackpool stuff, Fleetwood stuff, Leeds stuff, loads there and I'm sure there will be more to come in the coming days.

"It was nice (to see scarves from other clubs) in times like this in the football community rivalries are put aside."
