Wyre Council is taking precautions to deal with strong winds combined with high tides expected along the coastline.

We have installed storm boards and closed most of our storm gates along the coast until the wind dies down, with the exception of the following: Café Cove slade, Victoria Road West, and Kingsway, Cleveleys; Marine Hall Car Park, Fleetwood; and two boards at Knott End. However, these may close if conditions worsen.

All boards and gates are expected to re-open early next week.

Council officers are monitoring the situation closely and on standby should conditions worsen.

Members of the public are advised to stay off the promenade and beach for their own safety during adverse weather and high tides, which are expected at around 11.30am this morning and midnight tonight.

Weather and tide times.

The Fleetwood to Knott End ferry service will operate from 9.15am on Saturday and from 9.45am on Sunday subject to weather conditions..

The council will continue to monitor weather and tidal conditions in order to strike a balance between managing a genuine flood risk and unnecessarily restricting access to Wyre's seafront. However the protection of coastal and riverside properties remains our priority.
