Lancashire County Council is supporting this year's international White Ribbon Campaign.

White Ribbon is an international campaign established by men to end all forms of male violence against women and girls. The campaign is now in its twelfth year.

The White Ribbon flag will fly above County Hall from Saturday 25 November, International White Ribbon Day, to mark the beginning of a two-week campaign to end all forms of male violence against women and girls. Activities will run until Monday 10 December.

Large white ribbons and banners will be displayed at some county council-run buildings, together with information about the campaign. There will also be pledges for people to sign to support the campaign and badges they can take to help spread the message.

There will be displays at the Pitt Street and Bow Lane reception areas at County Hall, Preston from Monday 27 November. Burnley Library, Lancaster Library and the Harris Library, Preston, will also have large white ribbons and banners on show from 25 November.

County Councillor Peter Buckley, cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "Violence against women can come in all forms whether it's domestic abuse or attacks on the street.

"Displaying the white ribbon is a clear sign that we won't stand for it. We're pleased to support the campaign and hope the white ribbons at county council buildings and libraries will help spread the important message.

"We want people across Lancashire to join in with this campaign and help to transform the lives of women and girls affected by violence."
