Police are appealing for witnesses after a man sadly died following a collision on the M6 near Broughton.
At around 11.45pm Thursday, January 12 a BMW 635D was travelling southbound in the third lane when it lost control and collided with the nearside barrier. It spun back into the path of a lorry travelling in the first lane which carried out an emergency stop. A second lorry which was also travelling in the first lane then collided with the back of the first lorry.
The driver of the second lorry, a 48 year old man from St Helens, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died.
PS Nigel Ralphson of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died. An investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision is underway and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log 1339 of 12th January.
