Merseyrail Sound Station is calling out for musicians to get involved in the second semester of the all-new artist development programme.

After the success of semester one, which culminated in a live showcase in partnership with BBC Music Day at the end of September, musicians on Merseyside are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to take part in the second round of activity.

The programme features a range of development sessions which will begin in January 2019 and will again bring together experts from across the music industry to help aspiring artists.

Semester One featured an artist-led masterclass from Becky Hawley of acclaimed band Stealing Sheep, who provided advice on advancing a career in music and forming your own scene. She then led focussed seminars with groups of musicians.

The thirteen artists who took part also received direct advice from representatives from record labels, management companies and festivals as part of a industry MOT day at the British Music Experience. As well as this, a studio workshop enabled artists to polish their songwriting skills and learn about recording and production techniques.

Josh Miller of semester one artists Eyesore And The Jinx said of the project: “The programme has massively helped us, by introducing us to people with the skill set to help us develop and make the next step, as well as introducing us to a host of talented artists we otherwise may not have encountered.”

Semester two will take the same format as the first phase and artists from both cohorts will be in with a chance of being picked to take high profile support slots and play at a music industry showcase in London next year.

The application window for semester two runs from 25th October to 30th November with successful artist to be announced before Christmas.

The programme is designed by Merseyrail and Bido Lito! to provide a quality development programme for a wide variety of musicians based in the region.
