Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the free, three day, annual Southport Food and Drink festival.

The superb setting of Victoria Park, Southport will host the Sefton Council run festival of fabulous fare and delicious drinks from Friday, June 3-5.

This year the festival celebrates its 10th birthday and will be open from 10am to 6pm every day.

Visitors will be able to choose dishes and delicacies from around the world while street food stalls will be selling food and drink including ostrich burgers, curry, pizza, burritos and buffalo wings.

The event will open on Friday with afternoon tea which will be a selection of fine teas, sandwiches, open rolls, freshly baked scones, strawberry and rose Eton Mess and Food Festival inspired cakes. Tickets can be bought in advance from A Great Little Place, London Street, Southport.

There will also be a variety of local and regional produce, fresh and ready for visitors to take away and enjoy at home.

Drinks on offer vary, from non-alcoholic; such as traditional tea and coffee to healthy smoothies. Or for the more adventurous alcoholic lemonade, local cider, cocktails, craft beer and Pimms are all available.

For younger visitors, the Children’s Festival will provide plenty of entertainment. Craft activities will be provided by The Creation Station with storytelling, critters, face painting, balloon modelling and much more.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Cabinet Member Regeneration and Skills, said: "Once again we are expecting thousands of foodie fans to flock to Victoria Park over the three days to sample some amazing food, drink and entertainment.

"The event seems to get bigger and better each year and we look forward to welcoming people of all ages to this superb free festival.

"This is just the start of an extensive events programme taking place across Sefton throughout the year which we are very proud of."

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the free, three day, annual Southport Food and Drink festival -

..............and thousands of visitors will get fleeced at the stupidly high prices for 'kidology' type food!

Ferinstance, I asked a 'Home Made Pork Pie' stall, what made their pies so special at £5 odd each, they attempted to tell me but fell at the first hurdle when I asked about the hot water crust they used - they didn't know what a hot water crust was, home made my arse, they were bought in for the show!

We went last year and it was like walking through a crowded beer garden. The quality of some of the food wasn't good either as well as being very expensive.
