Youngsters across Merseyside have been busy designing posters to raise awareness of hate crime for a competition organised by Merseyside Police, supported by Liverpool City Council and funded by councillors.
Officers, along with representatives from the Anthony Walker Foundation, visited Arnot St Mary Primary, St Francis De Sales Primary and Gwladys Street Primary School on Tuesday (26 June 2018) to speak to pupils about the issue.
There will also be reassurance visits with Immigration officials to vulnerable people in Merseyside.
Tomorrow (Thursday), the winner and runners up of the poster competition will be decided and awarded with a range of prizes donated by businesses around Merseyside.
Community Sergeant Tara Thompson said: "This competition has already really engaged young people with the issue of hate crime, and we hope it will send a strong message to the children that all forms of hate crime are completely unacceptable in our society.
"We have explained to them what constitutes a hate crime, as well as what they can do if they witness or are a victim of a hate crime.
"Merseyside Police is committed to maintaining the right of all our communities to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect.
"Merseyside is rightly proud of being a diverse place to live, work and socialise and we felt it was very important to ensure the next generation continue to embrace that.
"I would urge anyone who has been subjected to hate to contact us on 101, on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook 'Merseyside Police CC' and we will provide specialist support, and take prompt action.
"If for any reason you don’t feel comfortable speaking to the police, ring independent charity Stop Hate UK on 0800 138 1625 who provide 24/7 help and support, or visit http://www.stophateuk.org/. There are also more than 90 independent centres across the region where you can go to contact Stop Hate UK - anywhere displaying a ‘red hand’ logo is part of this important network standing up against hate."

More PC indoctrination of our children by the plods and their friends to stop genuine differences of opinion being expressed. Any justified and well-researched criticism of the Trans agenda or Islam, for example, is automatically deemed "hate speech" by our authoritarian, politicised and increasingly disrespected police forces.
Its all a smoke screen of course to distract from the 90%+ failure rate of the police with real crime like burglary and assault.
