The Mawdesley Equine & People Trust, with the working name of Jigsaw is a local charity based at Backhouse Stables, off Hall Lane in Mawdesley. Our objectives are 1) to provide relief for horses and ponies that are sick, abandoned, or have suffered cruelty, 2) To provide activities and facilities calculated to advance the education of the public at large in all matters relating to the care and welfare of horses and ponies, 3) To promote good health of the public at large, through the provision of facilities & activities in the equine setting calculated to relieve stress and illness arising therefrom, 4) To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for the public at large who have need, by reason of their youth, age, infirmity, social or economic circumstances for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for those persons.

Jigsaw has a relaxed and calm atmosphere where people can learn about horses in a safe, friendly and fun environment. We offer training opportunities, work placements, voluntary places, riding, horse care and management, equine and non-equine events and much more...
Our services are open to anybody of any capability, age and gender, and our team do a lot of work with socially excluded people and people with disabilities..

Jigsaw has also pioneered the use of "Bob", the full sized mechanical horse. Bob allows both adults and children to learn to ride in a safe, controlled way. No matter what their physical or learning disabilities everybody can now enjoy the benefits of horse riding.
