Whilst it's important that some preventative measures to reassure residents by such policing activity is taking place, there is one group of residents who have long standing issues that never seem to be get the attention it deserves and that's late night disturbance.
Many nights around midnightish We see loads of people heading into town to the late night watering holes, many drinking en route some already very drunk many shouting or screaming, Despite this problem continuing year in year out we never see any real improvement or any pro-active policing, including the use of drug dogs, on these routes to and from town. This is a Policing matter only they have the power to at least respond and deal with this long term problem for many residents.
WLBC should define Residential areas in and around town none drinking areas and some parts designated as quiet zones with the possibility of instant fines. If WLBC has the authority too employ groups to issue parking fines on their behalf the could do the same for anti social behaviour.

the police have done a weeknd campaign were police drug dogs was used I believe the one offender that was found to be in posestion of a class a drug was a resident of ruff lane ! All local watering holes co operated and we're glad to see the use of them
Admittedly this hasn't been done for over 12 months probably due to resources

Oh, thank goodness that the resident of Ruff Lane was only in 'posestion' of a class A drug and not in possession of one, which would have been an offence !

Well the late night disturbance continues and is fuelled by Drugs, Drink or both so the so called cooperation is not working. Read some of the comments below! I should point out that this was in the so called freshers week when the most police are deployed than at any other time!

Yep I read a couple of comments I'm Hardly surprised there was noise on St. Helens road as that's where the university is and the entrance to ruff lane is closed
Personally I wouldn't live next to a university ! And as for parking on Altys lane there is no parking restrictions so it can't be stopped ?
All in all I see ormskirk as a safe and nice place to live work and bring up my family .

But to be honest the story about the police doing a good job on people speeding has been turned in to a dig at students
It should praising the police for doing something about one of the main things residents complain about which is speeding in residential areas I for one think it's good to see happing

You would defend this outrageous behaviour, your business is one with a late night licence, so long as you make a profit the rest of your neighbours can go and see a taxidermist. Whilst policing may very well be very good, in this area residents have constantly been let down, only the police have authority to act on street noise after all they never object to the issuing of these licences on the grounds the do not have the manpower. Just like speeding anti social noise needs to be tackled, it is an issue for many hard working tax paying residents of this town.

im not defending it im just pointing out that st helens road is the only way home of a night time to enter edge hill so there will be noise
yes they can be loud and a bit unruly but thats for the police and edge hill to sort out
im sorry that owning a buisness that employees people and pays buisness rates to the town is an inconvience to you but to be fair i only ever see a very small amount of residents that complain ?
above all and beyond im also a resident of the town and pay council tax so its unfair to say that my neighbours suffer because i dont care
end of the day im out to run a buisness and put bread on the table for my family
and hopefully afford for my daughter to attend university later in life
im sorry if that seems unfair .

I suspect your sentiments also rings very true to those residents that have to go to work during normal working hours also paying tax and putting food on the table. The issue is not with your and other establishment, it's what happens after they leave and the fact police never object to late night licences yet continually tell people they do not have the necessary manpower.
WLBC councillors should also explain to residents why members of the licensing committee, and against the advice of their own Environmental Health department who stated it would cause noise issues to residents, just why they ignored this advice and issued the license anyway?
