Booths Burscough are now stocking Ringtail Bitter which takes its name from the World War Two Royal Naval Air Station HMS Ringtail 1943 / 1946.

The beer is brewed by the Burscough Brewing Company and is described as 'a ruby red ale. Full bodied with a prominent bitterness and a delightful malt character. A noticeable grassy aroma with hints of marmalade and molasses.'

The Booths Burscough store was designed to resemble a WW2 Aircraft Hangar and has a HMS Ringtail themed cafe; outside is the Air Station's monument and a life size sculpture of a WW2 Navy Airman, both in a memorial garden.

Lawrence Critchley, a Fly Navy Heritage Trust supporter told QLocal yesterday: "It's a great gesture by the local brewery to recognise the history of the Royal Navy in Burscough and those who served there all those years ago."
