On April 26th local Guide Dog supporters will celebrate National Tea Day by hosting a fundraising tea party at The Grove, Burscough.

And it's rumoured that one of Ormskirk’s newest additions - guide dog pup Digit – will also be in attendance to show his support.

The event will be an opportunity to over-indulge in fanciful fruitcake and truly tremendous tea; the charity hopes the occasion will also raise awareness about the area’s fundraising group vacancies alongside essential funds for the charity.

Formed in 2016 - and already hosting a number of events in 2017 - the group is currently in search of eager and enthusiastic volunteers to extend a helping hand.

Siobhan Cullen, Community Fundraiser with Guide Dogs, told QLocal: "Whenever we have needed to generate awareness or to raise funds for Guide Dogs, we have always had such a great response from the people of Ormskirk. We’ve now also got Digit the pup, who has been a sensational addition to the team!

“The fundraising group only started here in 2016 and they’ve already exceeded all expectations. There’s still an opportunity to join this small group of people, who are making a huge difference to the lives of people living with sight loss.”

Current opportunities within the team include both a Fundraising Co-ordinator and Fundraising Group Members. Anybody interested in learning more about the vacancies is encouraged to come along on the day, where they will be able to meet both local guide dog owners and the Ormskirk Guide Dogs Team.

The event will take place between 2pm and 4pm on 26th April at The Grove, Station Approach, Burscough, L40 0RZ.
