The Hop Vine in Burscough and The Cricketers in Ormskirk have received deserved commendations in this year’s Parliamentary Pub Chef of the Year Awards.

Local MP Rosie Cooper nominated both pubs into the competition which recognises outstanding pub food across the country. Run jointly by the British Beer and Pub Association and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, it seeks nominations from Members of Parliament to recognise a pub chef, or chefs, in their constituency renowned for their great food.

Rosie presented the certificates to The Cricketers chef Tom Wells and The Hop Vine kitchen staff led by landlady Julie McCombe, telling QLocal: "Congratulations to the teams at The Cricketers and The Hop Vine on this fantastic achievement. It is a true recognition of their hard work and the excellent food they serve up every day.

“West Lancashire is full of wonderful pubs, acting as important focal points for our communities. It is great to have the opportunity to celebrate them and the dedicated people that run them.”
