As part of National Christian Aid week, Christ Church Aughton held a ‘Big Brekkie’ event today to raise money for the charity.
The slogan ‘Save a life with a sausage sarnie’ certainly drew the crowds and thanks to the efforts of the Saturday breakfast team and the local community £266 was raised.
Jesus calls us to love our neighbours – and not just the people who live next door or down the street. Many families living in Bangladesh have no land, few assets and no savings. And no matter how hard they work, they can’t escape the floods that constantly threaten to destroy their homes.
The money raised at the Big Brekkie event will flood proof one home, raising it seven foot on an earth plinth so that one family has a safe place to rebuild. It could also buy a goat, seeds and a wormery to produce compost, giving one family a long-term income.
If you didn’t get chance to donate at the Big Brekkie event, then why not add your donations into the red Christian Aid envelopes or donate online, www.caweek.org
