A brilliant idea to raise money for charity through the National Garden Scheme has been ‘growing’ in popularity in and around Ormskirk for the last few years.
And this weekend, Brian and Marian Jones raised a wonderful £2,000 by letting folk see their greenfingered handiwork at their Ludlow Drive home - with a plant sale, tea and cakes thrown in too! The community minded couple and friends have even taken on the care and maintenance of a small area of land between Ludlow Drive and Court Green*
Locally, other gardens open this weekend were at Edge Hill Uni. Pinfold Road near the Hospital and on Brick Lane and Thornton Close, Rufford. Next month sees the Crabtree Lane, Burscough garden of Peter and Sandra Curl open on 16 July from 11 – 4pm.
*would other residents consider doing the same on Holborn Hill and near the fire station roundabout, just two of the numerous tatty areas which need some greenfingered TLC...
