The Sandpiper in Bickerstaffe recently reopened its doors following a major refurbishment, bringing a beautiful new look to this Bickerstaffe local.
As a thank you to the village for all its support, landlord Dominic Dunning held a vote among the team to elect a ‘Top Taster’ who'd be invited to taste new menu items, help with bar selections and provide honest opinions and recommendations for the pub.
With the final votes cast, Dominic's officially named Lesley Dawson-Heath, and is looking forward to showcasing all the pubs’ new and exciting features to her, and working together to discover her recommendations and what the area would like to see from the pub in the future.
Said Lesley: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been chosen by the team as its Top Taster!
"the change has been amazing, and I’m really proud of the team and all the work they’ve put in to retain the pub’s character.
"The new look is simply the cherry on the cake!”
Visitors can enjoy the pub throughout the year, from roaring fires in winter as well as the picturesque beer garden, which has received extra lighting and seating, making it a great place to dine al fresco in the long summer days.
They can also sample the amazing selection of gins, ales and wines on offer behind the bar and try out some of the freshly prepared British dishes from the new menu.
Additional seating has also been introduced in the dining area, allowing even more space for guests to enjoy the food, drink and atmosphere of the Sandpiper whatever the weather.
Commented Dominic: "We wanted the new look to provide guests with a cosy pub where they can enjoy dinner, have a few drinks after a long country walk with their four-legged friends or simply relax and read the Sunday papers.
“The Sandpiper is in a fantastic location in a converted farmhouse, and we have an amazing support network around us, so we hope that all of our guests, both regulars and first-timers love the transformation.”
The Sandpiper - part of the Vintage Inns collection - celebrated the reopening with a brand-new menu certain to tickle the taste buds of guests, with new dishes including Lamb Duo a pan–fired lamb rump and a cheddar–topped shepherd’s pie, with seasonal vegetables and a red wine jus, along with a host of mouth-watering puddings including a warming sticky toffee & apple pudding.
And to celebrate its new-look, it's holding a ‘Taste of Vintage’ event where guests will be able to sample a selection of the new dishes, chat to Dominic and the team, as well celebrate with a free glass of bubbly. The event will be taking place on Friday 27th October from 7pm.
If you'd like to attend the VIP launch event, please email vintageinns@spottydogcommunications.com with the subject line “The Sandpiper’s Taste of Vintage” to register your interest - places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
