Organisers of this year’s Ormskirk Gingerbread Festival have issued a call for volunteers.

Following the success of the first Festival held in summer - organised and run by local community group Ormskirk Community Partnership - plans are in place to make this year's event on Saturday, 29 July even bigger and better.

This afternoon, Dave Mutch of OCP told QLocal: “Last year's event was fantastic and we'll be bringing back all the favourites including musicians, magicians, actors and clowns. Families can take part in the gingerbread trail around the town centre with some great prizes to be won."

The Gingerbread Festival is held in Ormskirk town centre as part the historic Saturday market; organisers say it’s a celebration of our local heritage bringing the community together to enjoy a wide range of street stalls, vintage games, music and entertainment, great activities and fun for all family

“We need volunteers to make this event a success!” added Dave.
“We would welcome support in preparing for the festival in the coming months as well as enthusiastic volunteers to help on the day. Volunteer roles include finding and booking entertainment, publicity, staffing stalls as well as photography on the day. We're also looking for musicians and performers, face painters, and other family entertainers who can be part of the event.

And the Community Partnership’s also asking residents for their memories of Ormskirk.

“Did you live in Ormskirk in the 1940's, 50's or 60's? Would you be willing to talk to us or write to us?

“We can come and talk to you or meet over a cuppa. Your memories will be part of our Heritage Project and will be available on our website. Your memories can be anonymous if you wish, and you would be providing a gift to future generations,” he told QLocal.
