This is the dramatic scene after a garage fire on Vale Lane, Lathom, last night.

The large garage on fire had an asbestos roof and was close to a neighbouring house with billowing smoke seen up to three miles away.

Two fire appliances arrived to extinguish the blaze while the police helicopter kept a watching brief overhead.
