Aldi’s new Burscough store went down a storm with local shoppers yesterday!
Many defied Storm Doris to queue in the winds and rain as Mayor Liz Savage and consort Noel Delaney cut the obligatory red ribbon to open the doors on the Ringtail Retail Park in Burscough with a special golden ticket event.
To celebrate the opening, Aldi handed out golden envelopes to the first 100 people in the queue, each containing a prize. Customers won a variety of prizes including a 49" 4K Smart TV, Dyson DC 40 vacuum cleaner, Garmin Nuvi 58 sat navs and a range of other prizes including Aldi vouchers and goody bags.
Manager, Barry Wright – who's moved to Burscough from Ormskirk - opened the store along with representatives from Grove Community Centre who received a donation of products from Aldi to aid their weekly activities.
The store has created 20 new jobs for the local community; shoppers can expect to find around 1,500 product lines in store including fresh, locally sourced produce.
Manager Barry told QLocal: “There was a real buzz at the store opening this morning, and it was great to meet the hard-working representatives from Grove Community Centre. We hope our customers enjoy shopping at their new store.”
Spotted at the store was good friend of QLocal Andrew Rimmer who has worked for Aldi locally for nigh on 24 years – many will remember him as the former manager of its Ormskirk store; he’s seen some big changes since his first day! Staff from other local stores were also there – and for the manager from Skem Concourse it was definitely no use crying over spilt milk as he mopped up after a carton burst near a checkout.

I like these promotions. This is a small celebration. However, the last photo is a little sad. It seems to me that using a modern vacuum cleaner robot would be more appropriate. I understand that there are work responsibilities and I myself never refused to work with my hands if necessary. But the reality is that in the morning I read an article about a new word in floor cleaning - https://www.alltechbuzz.net/easy-off...t-a-robot-mop/ And in the afternoon I go to the market and see the usual bucket and mop. When will progress come to us in reality?
