This week saw Crosby Village SC maintain their slender lead at the top of the Division One table of the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League. They sealed an excellent 6-0 away demolition over Skelmersdale Wardens A and this outcome sees them hold their single point lead from their nearest rival. The match saw Crosby's Paul Williams in tremendous form with a fabulous break of 85 in his frame success to earn him this week's 'Break of the Week' prize, his fourth of the current campaign.

Paul's break began after an early contribution of twenty when his opponent left him a further opportunity and he certainly didn't disappoint anyone. His opening red was potted into the yellow pocket and he gained ideal position on the blue ball. He dispatched that blue ball and with his usual quick fire fluency, accurate potting and fine positional play preceded to pot a further three reds with either pink or blue ball as the black was tied up on the bottom cushion. This made his contribution even more impressive. After a further pink and yellow were dispatched off the next two reds, Paul managed to dislodge the black ball and bring it totally into play. The next three reds were taken, all with blacks to reach fifty nine. He took the final red, screwing up for the blue ball and then the first five colours with aplomb and just had the final black left to pot. Unfortunately, Paul missed a tricky black ball and his break ended on eighty five but what a fantastic effort from Paul!!

Southport Conservative Club continue in second place in the standings after they too ended their evening with maximum points as they demolished Maghull RBL B 6-0. They sit at one point off the leaders but still have that all important match in hand over them. The match saw Southport's Andy Booth in top nick again with a really nice break of 45 in his frame win.

Quarry Green TAC moved into sixth despite ending their night with only a 3-3 draw with bottom side, Scarisbrick NSC although the Kirkby outfit won all three frames played as they, disappointingly, only fielded three players! Division 2

Stanley Club B remain as the pace-setters of Division Two despite ending their evening with a 3-3 stalemate with five men Farmers Club. This outcome sees them have their advantage cut to four points at the top of the league table but are certainly the team to catch as only four matches remain of the current campaign.

Aughton Institute D continue in second position, and in the second promotion slot, after a third consecutive 5-1 triumph and they are definitely trying to push the leaders all the way to the end of proceedings. This week they defeated Skelmersdale Wardens C by that score to sit those four points off top slot.

Aughton Institute B continue in third place despite not sealing a victory this particular week. They went into battle with Skelmersdale Wardens B and the spoils were shared as the match ended in a 3-3 stalemate. They now sit six points off the second promotion spot and grabbing that place will be difficult with just those four matches to play.
