Police confirmed this morning that a pensioner was driving the car which hit a man in Ormskirk town centre on Friday night.

The 79-year-old was at the wheel of a Peugeot 207 which hit a 40-year-old man opposite the Green Room at around nine o'clock; the car's windscreen was badly damaged and the driver's side door mirror was broken, too.

The casualty suffered leg and head injuries and was treated for his injuries at Southport hospital.

It's not known if the driver was questioned at the scene and why he was driving in a restricted area clearly marked as 'No Entry'.

This no entry sign is ignored on a daily basis especially by bicycle but not exclusively, and has been for the past few years! Who is there to enforce these rules, that would be nobody then!

Yep , no entry, no parking, no fouling, no dropping rubbish.....etc has no meaning in ormskirk !!

I don't think there is a bye law to restrict pedal bikes, cars yes

maybe now the council will do something about it like putting bollards up to stop all the lazy gits who use it as a short cut

WLBC been promising bollards for 2 years so don't hold your breath!
