Police are still piecing together clues which will reveal why and how a Scarisbrick man was killed at a 'dangerous' Ormskirk road junction.
It'll be three weeks on Friday since John Roberts, 69, of Smithy Lane died at the wheel of his BMW after a serious collision with an HGV at the junction of Green Lane and County Road at 8am on 22 December. A young lorry driver in his 20’s who was driving towards Preston escaped with minor injuries; it’s not known if there was a dash cam in the cab of his Mercedes truck.
Last week, a retired police officer interviewed one of the key witnesses to the incident; the Borough council has confirmed that its CCTV camera at the junction was working and officers have also been seeking CCTV from the Lancashire Ford garage.
There is no news yet on a funeral service for John who despite a handicap of having just one arm was a well known member of Hurlston Hall Golf Club.
