Police are seeking a vindictive vandal who they think is a pensioner with a grudge against people parking on the grass verge on Cottage Lane.
The victim – well known local window cleaner Peter Gallagher – was visiting his brother in law on Monday 1 May and left his Mercedes M Class on the verge for about 30 minutes.
"As I parked up, I saw two men talking but thought nothing more of it," he told QLocal's Roger Blaxall on Thursday night.
Returning to his car, he noticed a deep scratch along one side which he says will cost some £1500 to repair.
After reporting the matter to the Police, a scan of the CCTV camera on the nearby roundabout showed one of the men he'd seen before scratching the car; officers are now keen to trace him
He was talking to a man who drove off in a car but its registration plate is too grainy to identify, explained Peter.
"That man is either mad, bad or senile,“ he added.
