If you’re out and about shopping in Ormskirk next Saturday, look out for members of the Rotary Club of Ormskirk Clocktower who’ve been granted a permit for a street collection to raise funds for the recent natural disaster in Haiti.

Rotarians from all three local clubs (Ormskirk Clocktower, Ormskirk, Maghull & Aughton) are working together to organise their members into teams to have a presence in the town all day to collect any spare money our community can donate to help the relief on this unfortunate island whose infrastructure has been devastated by Hurricane Matthew.

They’re supporting the International Rotary approved organisation which sends shelter boxes to Haiti tailored to meet local needs.

Said Sue Wilson off the Rotary Club of Ormskirk Clocktower: “These contain family-sized tents specially designed to withstand the elements and provide people with temporary shelter until they are able to start the process of rebuilding a home.

They also contain items that help transform shelter into a home - cooking sets, solar lights and activity sets for children.

“Two boxes were donated earlier this month and are on their way to Haiti already but there is still a huge need so if you can donate to help, please do!"
