Rufford's Lawrence Critchley has contaced QLocal to tell of his 'surprise and disgust' in finding a local canal towpath littered with discarded dog waste bags, some in ditches and others hanging from trees, etc.
The section of the canal in question runs from the road bridge on Church Road Rufford to the swing bridge; it's opposite Rufford Old Hall and used by people of all abilities because of its firm surface to it, and also as a circular walking route by visitors to the Hall.
Lawrence counted over 30 discarded bags on just one visit ...
This morning, he told QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall: "As well as being totally unacceptable, it gives a bad impression of our district's countryside.
"There is a dog bin on the other side of the road bridge but this is always full and many people are not aware of it in its location.
"It is so full that it has to have a second bag attached to the bin!
"I have raised the problem with the Borough Council environmental services and Rufford Parish Council.
"My aim is to have another bin installed on the problem section of the Rufford branch of the canal," he concluded.

Who are these people, it matters not (though it would be desirable) that there is no handy waste bin right next to where the dog does its business, they wouldn't use it. Its always baffled me that having gone to the trouble of buying a bag to clean up their dog mess acknowledging that its right they should and then just chuck the bag and it's it contents away. I'm a dog owner of 30 years and these people are a disgrace to society so not so much of the blame goes to the council but to the dog owners.
