Centenary celebrations of the consecration of a well known Ormskirk church were held recently.

A memorable night for parishioners at St Anne’s on Prescot Road on Friday 18th November began with a special Mass at which the Celebrant was the Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most Rev. Malcolm McMahon with the Homily given by the Abbot of Douai Abbey, the Right. Rev. Geoffrey Scott.

Preaching to a packed church, Abbot Geoffrey referred in his sermon to the history of St. Anne’s Church which had been founded in 1732.

The Mass was followed by a buffet in St. Anne’s Pastoral Centre which was attended by the Mayor of West Lancs., Councillor Liz Savage and parishioners and guests.

The Mayor was presented with a new edition of the guide to St. Anne’s Church which had been published in time to coincide with the Centenary celebrations.

Copies of the revised guide are available in the Church shop price £3 and are on sale after the Saturday evening and Sunday Masses; all money raised will go the church roof restoration fund.
