Stand by for another correction from The Champion...

This week's paper managed to mix up a Villages in Partnership charity which raises monies for impoverished people in Malawi with its west Lancashire counterpart - officially the Rural Community Partnership Trust - which is sadly closing its shop in Burscough soon due to what one insider said was its 'unsustainability'.

For the record, here is the official description of the west Lancashire 'VIP' charity from the Charity Commission website: 'RCPT (VILLAGES IN PARTNERSHIP IS THE WORKING NAME) PROVIDES SUPPORT OF LOCAL COMMUNITY BASED PROJECTS AND THE FACILITATION OF COMMUNITY EVENTS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE RURAL VILLAGES OF CHORLEY.'

(That's a long way from Malawi....)

One trustee spoke to QLocal this morning dismissing the Champion's erroneous description of its work.

Reporter Ollie Cowan told QLocal's Roger Blaxall: "We'd be happy to talk to the charity about it."
